Configuring cameras for video celebrations

Video celebrations are a new form of monitoring service provided as part of remote video surveillance. Appropriate camera configuration is crucial for this service, as video transmission is via Internet connections with varying bandwidth.

Camera configuration in safestar

To get the best results, you need to properly configure the parameters of cameras and recorders in the monitored facilities. Video celebrations do not require the highest image quality (FullHD is enough about 6-9 fps). In practice, this means that you should use a second video stream, the so-called auxiliary - to which she will be able to connect Safestar monitoring application. To be able to connect to the recorder (camera) you must also properly set the network configuration of this device. Ports must be properly redirected and the device must be "visible" at a fixed IP address in the internet.

In the device edition, enter the public IP address and two RTSP ports - used for video stream transmission and WWW for the configuration data transmission. It is also worth highlighting all three video servers. This is an option that allows you to achieve the highest level of reliability. The IP addresses of these servers are listed. This is helpful information in a situation when on the monitored object side you have to enter the IP addresses from which connections to the recorders come. We also provide the login and password for the device. Please note that this login has administrative rights on your device.

After clicking "Next", the connection to the recorder takes place and the configuration is downloaded. Here, we also have the option of choosing the stream of a given camera and turning on or off the video stream from a given camera.

When configuring cameras on the device side, it is extremely important to pay attention to the FPS parameter setting, i.e. the frame refresh rate per second, and the I-Frame parameter, i.e. the keyframe frequency. In addition to setting a small FPSm value of a few, max. A dozen or so frames per second, it is important to properly set the relationship of these two parameters. It will affect the speed of connection and receiving the stream from the camera and thus the efficiency of performing the video celebration service. The value we get by dividing the I-Frame Interval value by the Refresh (FPS) value should be less than or equal to 2.

Video setup for a low bandwidth link

IN Safestar there are two types of video celebrations - simple and advanced.

An important element is to adjust the video configuration of the walk to the bandwidth of the Internet connection. Quite often, the video celebrations are performed at facilities where the only internet connection is the GSM network, i.e. mobile Internet. In this case, when configuring camera views, select more views but one camera than one view with more cameras. This is explained in the video below.
